February is the month of holidays and celebrations! Wishing everyone a very happy Valentine’s Day today, President’s Day tomorrow, Lunar New Year the next couple weeks, and celebration of Black History Month the rest of this month and beyond. School is closed for mid-winter recess this whole week so we will see you on Mon, Feb 22.
Black History Month Virtual Event
The AEA Racial Equity Committee is excited to invite you to a virtual event to celebrate Black History Month! All AEA families are welcome to learn together more about the rich African-American history in the United States.
Parents from the Racial Equity Committee will be showing videos for three different age groups and facilitating age-appropriate discussion, craft or collaborative work in response to the video. The event will be held this Tuesday, February 16 at 5pm, please RSVP or contact us at 303racialequity@gmail.com with your suggestions and questions.
Miss Chocolate Fundraiser
The school’s annual spring fundraiser drive with Miss Chocolate is going on now and ends on Mar 1. All orders can be placed online and will be shipped directly to the the buyers’ homes. Shop for a variety of items like gift wrap, frozen cookie dough, and chocolate; plus there will be prizes based on how many items you sell!
To participate in the fundraiser:
- Go to misschocolate.com and then “Online Store” or Click Here.
- Click on Student/Seller Dashboard and use our school ID 101402 to register.
- Invite family and friends to shop online at your PERSONALIZED website to help raise money for our school and earn prizes at the same time!

Lunar New Year Celebration
Thank you to all the families who attended our event last Friday, we hope you all had fun! We had over 45 kids come and learn about the holiday, make a paper fan and learn some traditional fan dance moves. For those who attended, please let us know what you thought of the event here, thanks!
Middle School Applications Deadline Extended to Tues, Feb 23
For our 5th grade families, the deadline for middle school applications has been extended to Feb 23. You can apply to up to 12 programs with your child’s application. For more information, check out the DOE’s website about the middle school application process here.
