Hope everyone is doing well and getting to enjoy the recent bout of nice spring weather!  Also, a Happy Ramadan to our families who celebrate! There’s a lot of exciting things happening both in our school and the general community. Picture Day with Stomping Ground
Get the kid’s outfits ready and haircuts done for Picture Day this year!  Stomping Ground will be at the school on Tues, April 20 and 27 to take photos of our kids in a safe, socially distanced setting. A reminder for Cohort D families to please fill out the form with your selection by tomorrow / Monday so we can finalize the schedule.

Story Time with Ms. Weissbach
Because the Read-A-Thon was such a success, Ms. Weissbach will be continuing her virtual story hours!  She will be reading a children’s book followed by a discussion and a small art activity on the following Mondays:

  • April 12 at 4pm
  • April 19 at 4pm
  • April 26 at 4pm

It will be geared towards students in grades Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade, however all students from AEA are welcome to join!

1st Day School Supplies
We are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies again this year to help make purchasing school supplies for next year super easy!  If you’d like get an early start to buying school supplies for next year, you can start placing your orders now with the deadline being July 1, 2021. A reminder that this is completely optional, you do NOT have to purchase through 1st Day Schools Supplies if you do not want to. You may purchase your school supplies elsewhere once the teachers make the supplies list available. This is purely an option for those who’d prefer to have the convenience of doing so. Get Ready for Some Chocolate!
Our Aigner Chocolates fundraiser is coming up the week of April 26! It will be a fun, Willy Wonka-esque Golden Bar fundraiser (in-store only) as well as an online fundraiser for those who are more comfortable with online purchases.  The daily prizes are all $50 gift certificates to local businesses in our district including Keuka Kafe and Dream City! Take a look and get your stomachs ready for some chocolate! More details to come next week.

Pre-K Applications Deadline Extended to Mon, Apr 19
For those with children entering pre-K in the fall, you now have more time to explore your options as the deadline has been extended to April 19! You can apply online at MySchools.nyc or by phone. Learn more about how to apply and how pre-K offers are made.

Candidate Forums for CEC Elections
The D28 Presidents Council is hosting two candidate forums for over 60 (!) candidates running for CEC D28 positions on Thursday, April 22 and Friday, April 23 at 6pm. You will get a chance to meet the candidates and learn more about them so you can make an informed decision on who to vote for in May’s CEC election. Please see the flyer to register.

Parent University Courses
The DOE invites families to participate in a 3-part Parent University virtual series on “Making Learning Work.” The course includes a family guide with practical resources, tools and tips to help students learn at home and school, and build and sustain meaningful relationships. Please see the flyer for more details on how to register.

CEC Resolution on Opposing Anti-Asian Violence Passed
On April 1, D28 CEC passed unanimously a resolution opposing anti-Asian violence and requesting more education on racism. For more details, see the full resolution and the video.
