Important Election Information: Please Read

Our PTA election meeting is 7 p.m. Thursday. Please be prompt: We will vote near the start of the meeting. To be sure every voter is eligible, you will need your student’s classroom number (e.g. 1-303, 4-123). If you have multiple students, please use your older student’s classroom number. We need the number and NOT the teacher’s name.

  1. When you click on the Zoom link, you will need to fill out a registration form that asks for your classroom number. Once you fill it out, you will be approved to enter the meeting. Please allow yourself time for this extra step. We’re required to have an accurate sign-in sheet for this meeting. You can register in advance here: https://nycdoe.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUsf-qorjMtGNNm0oMDB9nAy-EuzjMhFl80
  2. When you arrive in the meeting, you must rename yourself to your student’s name and classroom number. (e.g. Andy Warhol, K-456). If you need help, we can assist. Mrs. Gallo and teachers who have volunteered will use this information to verify that you are an eligible voter. You will also need to turn on your video for the vote. If you aren’t verified and don’t have your video on, you will be put in a breakout room while voting occurs.

Two things will be different about this meeting:

All parents of students at AEA are eligible to vote. “Parent” is defined by the DOE as birth parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, stepparent, legally appointed guardian, or person in parental relation. Teachers, paraprofessionals, school aides, school secretaries, and other professionals currently employed at the school are eligible to vote for PTA positions, but not SLT.

NOMINEES STILL WANTED: If you are interested in running, our PTA is required to have a president, recording secretary, and treasurer. All positions can be shared, and we can also add vice president(s) and/or communication secretary to our board. There are two open SLT seats, which serve two-year terms. Please email 303pta@gmail.com if you want to add your name into consideration. We still have empty positions. Reach out with any questions. We all have to work together to make this organization a success.
