We hope you are all doing well this week. From last week’s virtual town hall, we are excited that the school will be able to bring back all blended learning students into the school full-time over the next few weeks! We recognize what a huge feat it is to pull off. Thank you to our wonderful administration, staff and teachers for making this possible for our students! Aigner Chocolate Fundraiser Starts Tomorrow
Our new fundraiser starts tomorrow / Monday, April 26 and runs for the whole week! In the spirit of Willy Wonka, we are having a Golden Ticket chocolate bar fundraiser where 20% of our sales goes back to the school for future enrichment programs. Please see the separate email for more details on how to participate and the list of prizes. Happy chocolate eating!
Picture Day Continues this Week
We will be continuing Picture Day with Stomping Ground this Tuesday, April 27 for:
- ALL Cohort A Students
- Cohort C Kindergarten
- Cohort C 3rd Grade
- Cohort C 4th Grade
- Cohort C 5th Grade
- Remote students with RSVP
We recommend your child(ren) not wear white as they will be using a white background for the shoot. Please see the email sent by the administration for additional details. Let us know if you have not received notification or if you have other questions, thanks!
Teacher Appreciation Week
Please join us in thanking our teachers during this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3-7). We will be gifting goodie bags to our teachers and support staff and ask our school community to help donate items. Thank you for those who have already signed up to donate and dropped off items! You can find a list of remaining items here. We will do a final collection on Tuesday, April 27 (same as Picture Day). Please drop off your donation on the cart located at the corner entrance of 110th St and 69th Avenue. For more details, see here.
Final Story Time with Ms. Weissbach
Ms. Weissbach will have her final virtual story hour reading a children’s book followed by a discussion and a small art activity on Monday, April 26 at 4pm. It will be geared towards students in grades Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade. However, all students from AEA are welcome to join! Please RSVP.
Racial Equity Event on Wed, April 28
The Racial Equity Committee is inviting all AEA students to a virtual afternoon of fun and learning about the artist Amy Sherald. On Wednesday, April 28 at 4pm, they will be reading a book, talking about Amy Sherald’s art and facilitating an art activity. Everybody is welcome to join! The event will last 45-60 minutes. School Safety Committee Town Hall Meeting
The school will be holding their annual Safety Committee Town Hall Meeting on May 4 at 2pm. This is an optional meeting where parents are invited to join the safety committee in discussing various safety issues, protocols, and procedures within the school. 1st Day School Supplies
We are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies again this year to help make purchasing school supplies for next year super easy! If you’d like get an early start to buying school supplies for next year, you can start placing your orders now with the deadline being July 1, 2021. A reminder that this is completely optional, you do NOT have to purchase through 1st Day Schools Supplies if you do not want to. You may purchase your school supplies elsewhere once the teachers make the supplies list available. This is purely an option for those who’d prefer to have the convenience of doing so. Chancellor’s Family Letter
Please see the Chancellor’s latest family letter addressing the recent events of the Derek Chauvin trial verdict. They have mental health support in place for students, teachers and staff to help grapple with any feelings that emerge. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and as a community, let’s continue to check in and support one another.
CEC Elections
The CEC elections will be running from May 1-11. This is the first time that parents can vote directly for their preferred candidate. If you are interested in learning about the candidates, you can watch the most recent candidate forum part 1 here. Candidate forum part 2 should be uploaded shortly.
CEC Gifted & Talented (G&T) Town Hall
Our district is holding a Gifted & Talented Town Hall meeting on Thurs, Apr 29 at 6:30pm where the council and panelists discuss the current processes for the gifted & talented program. Please see flyer for more details and to register.
