Teacher and Staff Wishlist![]() The PTA reached out to all teachers and staff to get their wishlist. Our generous community approved funding and we were able to purchase many of the items on their Wishlist. The teachers and staff send a big thank you for all the items they received. See below for an email of gratitude from our 2nd grade teachers: To the PTA of AEA, The 2nd Grade teachers wanted to send a huge THANK YOU for everything you have done for us! The wishlist items you gave to our students are so helpful and the kids are loving them. The breakfast this morning was amazing (the French toast was definitely a 2nd Grade favorite!) and it was such a special treat to have in the middle of the week.Thank you for always supporting the teachers. Mid- year teachers and staff breakfast![]() As a PTA, we were able to provide hot breakfast for our teachers and staff on 2/15/2023 because of our generous community. Teachers and staff had a choice of french toast, pancakes, bagels, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, and fruit salad. Our teachers and staff truly appreciated this gesture. |
![]() It is time to start planning for the annual election where we nominate and vote for our 2023-24 executive board and any open SLT seats. Please consider running for one of the mandatory executive board or open SLT seats. We are also seeking volunteers for our nominating committee. Nominating Committee · 3-5 people · Not planning on running for PTA or SLT positions · Must attend April 20th and May 11th PTA meeting . There is a guide and scripting available for those who volunteer If you are interested, please sign up using this link Available Positions: · President or Co-president · Vice-President · Recording Secretary or co-secretary · Treasurer or co-treasures · School Leadership Team (SLT) â 3 Positions Mandatory Officers (for our PTA to continue, it is vital we fill these roles). PTA President: Estimated time commitment: 2-3 hours/week Time commitment depends on the week/support available. Meets regularly with other members of the PTA board. Plans agendas and conducts all PTA meetings; Provides leadership and guidance to various PTA committees Is one of the signatories on PTA checks; Attends all meetings of the district presidentsâ council, D28 CECs and attends School Leadership Team meetings. Treasurer: Estimated time commitment: 1 -2 hours per week Responsible for all financial affairs and PTA funds Maintains neat and orderly records of income and expenditures Prepares and delivers monthly updates to membership on PTA financial status Completes financial reports in January and June to be filed with the principal. Assists President and committee chairpersons with designated PTA events. Recording Secretary: Estimated time commitment: 1-2 hours per week Maintains the official record (minutes) of all PTA proceedings Keeps track of all motions and votes Prepares agendas, sign-in sheets and meeting notices Prepares and distributes the minutes of previous PTA meetings Maintains all correspondence received on behalf of the PTA. (if there is no corresponding secretary) Assists President and committee chairpersons with designated PTA events. Non-Mandatory Officers Vice President: Acts as an aide to the president. Performs the duties of the president in their absence. Assists President and committee chairpersons with designated PTA events. Corresponding Secretary: Writes thank you notes and correspondence as requested by the Board. Performs the duties of the Recording Secretary in the absence of the recording secretary. Maintains the PTA of AEA Facebook page/website blog/email blast Assists President and committee chairpersons with designated PTA events. School Leadership Team: Estimated time commitment: 1 hour per month In December 1996, amendments to the New York State Education Law required the chancellor to take steps to ensure that SLTs were in place in every New York City public school. SLTs play a significant role in creating a structure for school-based decision making and shaping the path to a collaborative school culture. SLTs are a vehicle for developing school-based educational policies and ensuring that resources are aligned to implement those policies. Functioning in a collaborative manner, SLTs assist in the evaluation and assessment of a schoolâs educational programs and their effect on student achievement. SLT meetings will be scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month, September â June. SLT representatives (consisting of six parents and six teachers) attend all meetings and communicate the proceedings to the PTA. Nominations: Nomination of candidates will be accepted now through April 20th 2023. Nominations will also be taken from the floor at the election meeting on May 11th 2023. Term Limits: PTA officers shall be elected for a one-year term. SLT positions has a two-year term. The term of office shall be from July 1 through June 30. |
