Due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak, our schools will be closed starting tomorrow, Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 17 or later. They will be open for grab-and-go breakfast and lunch until April 8. Starting Monday, March 23, schools will offer remote teaching, and the City will be providing supervision to children of health care workers, first responders and transit workers. Please stay tuned for more information from the school administration.

This is a very unique situation that none of us have ever experienced.  We would like to encourage our families to help each other and check in on each other.  Feel free to ask our community if you need support.  Please fill out the Google document that was shared by your teachers a few weeks ago.  It is important that the school can reach you.  Also, make sure to sign up for Remind and our PTA Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/PTAofAEA303/?ref=share) to stay up to date.

If you haven’t already, please sign up to NOTIFY NYC for text alerts (text COVID to 692-692), through their website https://a858-nycnotify.nyc.gov/notifynyc or through their app. Also, please make sure you have an online account for your child with https://www.myschools.nyc/en/.  It is the account you used to register your child for kindergarten.  It will be easier for the DOE to contact you.  For updates, you can also connect through Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets to the DOE.

Miss Chocolate:
Please stay tuned for news from us regarding the delivery of Miss Chocolate products.  We are talking to Miss Chocolate to find out how to proceed.  But, unfortunately, it looks like that we won’t be able to have a delivery before April 20th.

Pre-K application ends:
The Pre-K application period will close on Monday, March 16.   If you have an older child at AEA, make sure to add his/her student ID number to your application, so that your application gets sibling priority. https://www.myschools.nyc/en/

Census 2020:
Most of you should have received mail from Census 2020 with an access code to fill out the questionnaire online or by phone.  Please take the time to do it.  It is important that we are all counted to receive full funding for our schools and full representation in politics.  Encourage friends, co-workers and family members to fill out their census survey, too.  It is important for all of us. Wishing all our families the very best in these difficult times.  Stay healthy!
