This Week: On Stage w/Mrs. Leto, P/T Conferences, and Miss Chocolate Fundraiser closes!

We hope you are all doing well this week! As the school year continues on and we head into March, our principal will be hosting her next “On Stage with Mrs. Leto” virtual session on March 3 at 9am.

Miss Chocolate Fundraiser
The school’s annual spring fundraiser drive with Miss Chocolate ends tomorrow / Monday, March 1. Get in your final orders now for Passover and Easter! All orders can be placed online and will be shipped directly to the the buyers’ homes.

Parent / Teacher Conferences
Virtual conferences will be held throughout the day on March 4 with an early dismissal for all students at 11am. Remote students will only have their morning session. You should have already received an email to sign up for a 10-minute appointment. If you haven’t, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher.

Picture Day Poll
The pandemic has changed the usual format for our annual Picture Day with Stomping Ground Photo. We are planning to offer a picture day outdoors in the spring but before we undertake the effort to plan such an event under adherence to strict COVID-10 safety guidelines, we’d like to reach out to our families to get an understanding of:

  • If you would send your child/children (remote students included) to an outdoor picture day
  • If so, would you plan on purchasing photos

Please take this brief poll to let us know your interests, thanks!

Pre-K Info Session for Prospective Families
Our school will be hosting a virtual info session for prospective Pre-K families on Friday, March 12 at 10am. During the session, families will learn about the school’s philosophy, curriculum and enrichment programs. The RSVP form is here and can also be found on the school website. Please share with your friends or anyone you know who may be interested!

March PTA General Meeting
Join us for our next PTA general meeting on Thursday, March 11 at 7pm! The bylaws committee will be presenting suggested changes so we encourage you to attend to give your input! Please RSVP here.

Coming Soon!
We are super excited to be offering another Read-A-Thon to our AEA community! It will start on March 8 and will run for 2 weeks. Be on the look out for more information from your child’s teacher as we get closer to the date.

Virtual Reading Buddies Event
To celebrate the Read-A-Thon we are hosting a Reading Buddies Event! In the past, our school administration had special days when older grades went to younger grades and read to them. The kids loved it! Because of COVID-19, these fun school events are difficult to offer in-person.

On March 14, we will be hosting a virtual reading buddies event and interested families can sign up to be read to (younger grades) or to read (older grades). Our recommendation is that 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are reading to 1st graders, kindergarten and pre-k kids.

Parents, we need your help to make this a success. We will pair up older and younger students and assign them a reading room (breakout room).  We need parent volunteers to quietly observe the session and help out if needed. We also need older children to sign up as readers. More detailed instructions will be provided when you or your child chooses to volunteer.

When: Sunday, March 14 at 3pm (estimated time frame: 30-45 minutes)
Where: Zoom (link will be sent out 1 hour prior to the event)

Please let us know here if you would like your child to participate (as a listener or reader) and if you would like to volunteer, thanks!

Lastly, with the recent uptick in anti-Asian and anti-Semitic hate crimes, we want our families to know that we are standing in solidarity with our Asian and Jewish families.  Stay safe and healthy all.

In unity,
Your PTA of AEA
