This week: Spring forward for daylight savings time!

Hope everyone remembered Daylight Savings Time today and were able to catch up on the lost hour of sleep! Our Read-a-Thon fundraiser is in full swing this week and will continue for one more week. Read-A-Thon
Our Read-A-Thon fundraiser is in full swing and will continue for one more week! Let’s encourage our children to read and discover the joy it brings. If you haven’t already, it’s not too late to get started, just activate your account with the log-in code from your child’s teacher.  Please see the flyer here for additional details and how to participate, happy reading!

Storytime with Ms. Weissbach
We are excited to announce two virtual story hours with our former Pre-K teacher, Ms. Weissbach! On Monday, March 15 and March 22 at 4pm, Ms. Weissbach will be reading a book to our students followed by a discussion and a small art activity. Both events will last about 30-45 minutes and are geared towards students in grades Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade, however all students from AEA are welcome to join. Author Reading with Mr. Vinny
One of our AEA parents is a children’s book author! We are so excited to be hosting this special author reading with our very own AEA parent Mr. Chen a.k.a. Mr. Vinny! On Thursday, March 18 at 4pm, Mr. Vinny will be reading two of his books to our students in a virtual story time. “Squish Squeeze and Smash” is geared towards 3-5 year olds and his second book “The Secret Castle In the Cloud: Lost Bitcoins” is written for 5-9 year olds. Racial Equity Committee Meeting on March 23
The next meeting of the Racial Equity Committee will be on Mar 23 at 7pm. Parents who’d like to join can email 303racialequity@gmail.com.

PTA Board and SLT Nominations Needed
A reminder that the 2021-2022 PS 303 PTA Executive Board and SLT elections are coming up! ​ The PTA nominating committee is seeking nominations for PTA board positions, as well as four members of the School Leadership Team (SLT), for the 2021-2022 school year. The PTA positions have one-year terms, from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022. The SLT position has a two-year term. We welcome all nominations and encourage parents to run individually or as co-chairs. Input for Bylaws Needed
Every 3 years, the PTA general membership needs to update the PTA bylaws that dictate how our organization is run. Thanks to our Bylaws Committee, we already have a good start on suggested changes but need all of your input too! Please take some time to review the Bylaws document and A-660 document and give us your input via the Bylaws Committee Google Form, all located here. Or if you’d prefer to use the Padlet platform to input your changes, please see here.

CEC resolution in honor of Black History MonthA new resolution was passed on PS 48 and the “school troubles” in Jamaica over segregated schools. The CEC D28 supports remembering Black history by recounting an important historical story about the activism of Black families in Jamaica NY.  Please see the full resolution and presentation for additional details.

Pre-K Applications are Open Until April 7
For those with children entering pre-K in the fall, applications are now open! The deadline to apply is April 7, you can apply online at MySchools.nyc or by phone. Learn more about how to apply and how pre-K offers are made.
